Administrative Team

Sandy - AdminSandy – Practice Administrator
With more than 25 years of experience in the dental field, it has been my privilege to share in this practice’s growth for more than 16years. Dr.Shlafer has always encouraged continuing education to allow for constant improvement of our professional skills and knowledge, as dentistry is always evolving. During these many years I have been thoroughly involved with every aspect of the business of dentistry. I believe an important part of my job is to have a comprehensive understanding of a patient’s treatment. Together we work to resolve their financial and insurance concerns, finding ways for patients to get the treatment they want and need done.

My current project involves heading up our social media campaign. This includes, managing our face book fan page, writing the daily blog and assisting in the development of our new website. I became interested in writing while taking an undergraduate course at Ohio University. This opportunity allows me to use creativity and a touch of fun to share relevant and practical information with our patients.

Julie- Patient CoordinatorJulie – Patient Coordinator
As Patient Coordinator for Dr.Shlafer, I welcome patients into our office, as houseguests are welcomed into my home. I am the voice you hear on the phone, the greeter when you arrive and the farewell as you leave. Before your appointment, plans for the perfect visit are set in motion by gathering all the information needed to properly appoint and care for you. I always want to meet and exceed your needs by listening and considering each aspect of your individual circumstance. This includes researching insurance information, reviewing proposed treatment, and making financial arrangements. All discussions are done with graciousness, compassion and care. My goal is to ensure our patients complete satisfaction and leave anticipating a comfortable next visit

Mary - HygienistMary
After graduating from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry in 1985 with a degree in Dental Hygiene, I worked as a dental hygienist in Bern, Switzerland for two years. Being immersed in a foreign country has given me the opportunity to experience a new culture first hand. It also offered me the privilege of traveling with my husband to most of the European countries, as well and Russia and Turkey. These experiences have enriched my view of the world and have affected the way I have helped raise our children. They have also made for an interesting and quite often funny exchange of stories with my patients.

Working with Dr.Shlafer for more than 15 years now, I can say without hesitation, that the patients I see are an extension of my family. We discuss health issues well beyond just dentistry. I believe in a more holistic approach is necessary for total health. My patient’s well-being is my priority. Their experience here is very important to me. I take pride in the fact that we, as an office, utilize the latest technology in caring for our patients. Treatment is given in the most caring and comfortable way possible. That gives me confidence to know we are giving the best care available. I am grateful to be part of such a talented team. I invite you to join our family.
